Vacancy: Electronics & Embedded Engineer

Position
The Roetz R&D team has an opening for a multidisciplinary Electrical and Embedded Engineer to further develop the electronics or our circular and modular e-bike platform. We are looking for an experienced, independent and detail-oriented engineer to take ownership of the electrical
and embedded development aspects of the bike in a Continuous Improvement mindset and environment.
Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
• Professionalizing the current setup and getting it from first series to large scale production.
• Hands-on electronics assembly and troubleshooting during prototyping, piloting and production.
• Embedded programming using C/C++ to improve existing features and build new ones around the bike’s operating system. This includes, among other points, controlling hardware, power management, telemetry data collection and sending, communication with backend server and more.
• Designing/improving electrical aspects of the Roetz LIFE bike and its modules, including sensor packages (PCBs) and wired CAN-bus network.
• Leading development of future smart solutions (integrating TPMS within rim, PCBs in lights, integrating BLT and NFC technology, etc.)
• Leading the cost reduction initiative for the electronic aspects of the bike, by integrating functions, improving designs for production & assembly.
About Roetz
Roetz is working hard to take the circular economy to a higher level. Our latest achievement to reach this goal is the launch of the first circular and modular e-bike, the Roetz LIFE. We believe that our way of thinking, designing and working will create a change within and outside of the bicycle industry. The Roetz team has gained extensive experience and circular knowledge by supplying our bikes directly to consumers, and also to larger companies like NS, Belastingdienst and ING. Our bikes are all manufactured in our Roetz Fair Factory in a vibrant area of Amsterdam Noord, which is also where the design team is based.
Profile
We are looking for a proactive team member who is:
• Experienced in different fields of engineering with being, at a minimum, educated with a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Is excited about taking ownership of a critical aspect of the product.
• Has a hands-on problem solving attitude, approaching issues methodically and systematically.
• Has a bias for action and is eager to open things up and get to the bottom of issues
• Experience in the bike industry and in a scale up environment are big pluses
• Communicative, goal oriented and generally a nice person :)
• Interest in sustainability and the circular economy and a passion for bikes are added bonuses
